Church of Marden: St Michael & All Angels

In the parish of Marden

NOTICE IS GIVEN that we are applying to the Commissary Court of the diocese for permission to carry
out the following:

The Quinquennial Inspection Reports of 2010 and 2016 produced by Mr. James Ford of Claque Architects identified work that was required in relation to the stained and plain glass windows of St. Michael and All Angels, Marden. These windows are of various ages.

Windows nIX, sV and sVI have buckled panels/ventilators and will require removal and resetting.

Other windows with ventilators will require overhauling and decorating.

Some windows have missing or cracked lozenges/squares that will require new pieces.

Three north aisle windows have eroded ferramenta requiring careful descaling and decoration.

Window sIV has badly rusting mesh window guard which is disfiguring the stonework. This will require removing and replacing with a polycarbonate coated wire guard.

Window guards will be fitted to protect the fine contemporary glass in the chancel windows.

Two small timber-framed windows on the south and west walls of the tower are in poor condition. The buckled upper panels need to be renewed and frames redecorated.

Guards are also be fitted to other windows not so protected.

Copies of the relevant plans and documents may be examined at:  By appointment by contacting Brian Woodgate by telephone on 01622 743011 or email:  brimarchur@aol.com
